The Modified Pangamut System is a modern adaption of the Mountain Visayan System known as Pakamut or Pakamut. Pangamut means to have skilled hands, Pakamut means to slug in Mountain Visayan. The Modified Pangamut System is a Filipino-American Martial Arts System. The South Bay FMA Club experience’s in tournaments across the USA and in real life situations has brought about adaptations to the new challenges. This is the same as it was back in the Islands as each new raider brought about changes in styles of fighting to defend the Barangay (village).
The Modified Pangamut System is a complete system. It has three ranges these being Largo- Long Range, Meda- Medium Range and Korto- Close Range. It is not a complex system, using simple motions combined to make fighting combinations. It does not require one to be in great physical shape or even have special talents or skills like other arts. It uses three different mediums of fighting, these being single stick fighting, blade fighting and hand and foot fighting. When these mediums are combined together they create Combat flows. We teach the concept of Combat flows that transition through the different mediums of fighting. This concept was developed due to real life situations that came from law enforcement, military, security work and street self defense situations by members of the system.
